What’s cookin’

May 28, 2009

We bought some cookie sheets on Amazon, and they came with a subscription to Bon Appetit, which I’ve gotten totally sucked into. So based on one issue, here’s what I want to make in the near future and have acquired many ingredients to do so:

Classic Gougères — I found Plugrá butter for $2/pound on sale at A Southern Season today. I think it’ll be perfect for these. Not sure what to have with them though.

Mortadella stromboli — I bought some mortadella today thinking it was something else. So we can try it like that, and it’ll be a good way to use any lefover gruyère from the gougères. Gruyère gougères. That’s fun to say!

Herbed Balsamic Vinegar Chicken (with Blue Cheese) — Parenthetical because I don’t like blue cheese and will have to change that part.

Mahi Mahi skewers over couscous

Spanish Ham and Cheese Monte Cristo Sandwiches

Prosciutto, Mozzarella, and Citrus Tapenade Sandwiches — Why must delicious prosciutto be so pricey?

I also bought pomegranate limeade at Trader Joe’s. Between TJ’s and the Southern Season sale, I’ve bought all sorts of foods I don’t usually in just two days. Next week should be interesting at the dinner table!
